More information

Henry VIII oak bedstead, with heavy chamfered bed posts carved with the Tudor rose. Panelled head board and canopy. The bed has been re carved in the 17th century to add decoration to what would have been a very plain and simple old bed at the time. This bed belonged to Nathaniel. A. Owings. collector of early sculpture and works of art in New Mexico. The bed was shown in an article among his collection and shows the bed as it is now with its later framed canopy and shaped foot board top board. Missing both side rails.
