Description

Mid 16th century walnut X frame folding chair, with five petal rose decoration in the centre of the frame and on armrests. The seat and back rest covered with a piece of 16th century Persian carpet. This is the type of chair that Henry VIII would have used throughout his palaces.

Provenance: Philadelphia Museum of Art item: 1974-9-11 described as Dante Chair.

Rare collector’s piece.
