Description
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in cobalt blue, with a central roundel showing a vase of flowers, surrounded by a broad panelled border alternating between stylised foliage and figures in Chinese dress. The composition directly imitates imported late Ming Kraak porcelain, which was widely collected in the Dutch Republic and provided a key decorative model for Delft potters in the mid-17th century. The charger exemplifies the adaptation of Chinese porcelain aesthetics into European tin-glazed earthenware, reflecting both the influence of Asian trade and the ingenuity of Delft workshops in responding to market demand.
