Description

Charles I oak livery cupboard of small proportions, the upper section with canted cupboard, with the door and sides inlaid with holly and bog oak being flanked by two turned column supports holding the frieze rails with dentils and carved floral designs.

The lower section with a gadrooned carved frieze above a single door with a carved stag. Inside the lower cupboard there are two shelves one to the side and another one at the back with a channel moulded front board running into the side shelf.

Small cupboards of this type are rare, a similar example sold in Bonham’s on the 24th May 2012, lot 253 for £21,000.
