Description

Charles II joined oak cupboard of rare form, with three cupboard doors and upper single drawer, with the front having applied mouldings and split turnings. The cupboard splits into two sections for ease of moving around the house.

Another cupboard made by the same hand is currently in the Welsh Museum and is illustrated in Richard Bebb’s book Welsh Furniture 1250 – 1950, Volume one: page 266, figure 429. Shown in second image here.

Possibly made for Tredegar House, Nr Newport Monmouthshire. Wales.
