Description
Cromwellian joined oak backstool, with original Russian leather covering. This rare chair has a hinged seat revealing a fitted compartment for the use of a commode, completely original in structure. Good original surface and colour, seat now fixed down.
Provenance: Roger Warner collection, lot number 369. Roger bought this chair from Commander Fred Hart, Tinder House, Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire on the 17th August 1971.
Fred Hart, was an important collector of early furniture during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
