Description

French carved panel from the back of a throne chair, carved with a bird holding a scroll and wearing a crown with a peacock feather fan above. The bird could well be one of 5 birds, a Hoopoe, Pelican, Peacock,Stork or even a Phoenix, most birds that are seen carved in furniture in the late Gothic and early Renaissance period all look very similar and with very little variation.
