Early Elizabeth I boarded oak writing slope, circa 1560. The front carved and filled with pitch with floral strapwork arabesques, and initialed T B. Every surface is decorated with punch decoration and scribed lines. A rare feature not seen on boxes or writing slopes are the cutouts to the base which again are on all four sides. A table writing slope for a wealthy client. The back section of original hinges replace in the 17th century. Superb surface and colour.
