Description

A finely cast bronze cauldron of cylindrical form with everted rim, twin angular lug handles, and standing on three tapering legs. The body is decorated with incised horizontal lines beneath the rim, a characteristic device of French foundries of the Loire valley during the early Renaissance. Such vessels were both functional and symbolic, associated with domestic and ritual use, and often survive in inventories of aristocratic households.
