Description

Elizabeth I boarded oak desk box with sloping lid. The front and sides carved with double guilloche designs. The interior with original early decorated paper lining.

The distinctive feature of a desk is the provision of a sloping surface on which a book or paper may be placed for reading or writing, Victor Chinnery, Oak furniture the British tradition.
