Description

Pair of Elizabeth I oak carved heraldic lions, from the head board of a large and important tester bed.

Provenance: Elizabethan bed destroyed in fire at Athelhampton House, Dorset, Lions recovered. Purchased by Michael Dann, Devon, and sold to Frank Cowan the American photographer and collector. Purchased direct from Liz Cowan.
