Description

Elizabeth I oak carved and inlaid livery cupboard. The lower section pot board base with inlaid chequer designed lower rails. being joined to the bulbous cup and cover legs with jewel and leafy decoration with ionic capitals. the upper section with drawer and two doors, the drawer carved with guilloche design and the doors inlaid with chequer designs flanking the central arcaded panel with perspective decorated inlay. Two carved male and female figure supporters with ionic capitals joined to the upper frieze rails carved with scrolled guilloche designs.

This has been in a private Devonshire collection for more than 50 years and was purchased from a very good antiques dealer on Dartmoor in the 1970’s
