Description
Elizabeth I joined oak carved and inlaid armchair of high quality. The heavy moulded lower stretcher rails moulded both on outer and inner faces joined to baluster cup and cover carved legs with nulled and leafy decoration, the seat rails carved with S-scrolls. The heavy downward sloping arms with cut out decoration, with a rare cutout section at the top of the leg support to accommodate the hand hold. The back rest panel carved with scrolled foliate in a geometric form (mouldings long gone from this section) the cresting rail carved with S-scrolls with applied mouldings. The lower back legs and upper uprights inlaid with holly and bog oak in a chequer decoration.
