Description

Elizabeth I joined oak press cupboard with pot board base, above this the twin cupboards with applied mask faces flanking a fixed central panel of the same form. The upper cupboard doors with a simple inlaid chequer design flanking an arcaded carved fixed panel with an inlaid panel depicting a building, typically used on Nonsuch designed furniture from the same period. The column supports carved with male and female figures and ionic capitals, above this the frieze rails inlaid with S-scrolls. The upper side panels pierced for ventilation and the lower panels with cutout decoration typical of the Taunton area of Somerset.
