Description
Joined walnut, oak and chestnut Elizabeth I table, formally a draw leaf table. The walnut cup and cover carved bulbous legs with jeweled band, above a gadrooned frieze rail. The chestnut top, highly polished with walnut cleats and the lower stretcher rails in oak and capped. Restorations to the frieze rails and missing draw leaves.
Very few table’s from this period in walnut survive due to walnut being so prone to worm damage, this example has oak backings to the walnut carved sections.
