Description

English elm, leather and iron bound standard, the domed top with elements of original leather with some graffiti, the front with three locks and carrying handles, the sides and back with carrying handles.

Two wooden travelling chests, thought to have belonged to Margaret Beaufort, remain in Westminster Abbey’s possession. One was used to house the indentures for the building of Henry VII’s chapel. Last image here shows one example.
