Description
English oak box carved with opposing winged beasts, centered upon a shield-shaped reserve and asymmetric leafage typical of the Devon-area.
Similar carved bestiary appears on a late sixteenth-century box illustrated as cat. 3 in England at the time of the Armada, an exhibition held by the BADA, June, 1989.
