Description

This boarded chest is the very first one of its type to be documented, made in the same workshops in which Thomas Dennis apprenticed. It is of boarded construction, framed moulding to the front board and carved. The design of the ornament on the facade reflects standard Dennis Shop practice. A quadripartite flowerhead motif contained within a lozenge with scrolled and foliated extensions. Analogous patterns are known in the same location several on Dennis Shop chests. Oak, elm and ash.
