Description

Gothic carved oak scriptorium desk, the panelled front with three lower linenfold panels and above a central tracery carved panel, with all framing members with applied mouldings and carved buttresses. The two doors flanking the central tracery panel are later additions and would have been open in its original form.

Each side with two linenfold panels, the rear section with an open base for ease of sitting at, with three later doors again these would have been open.

The inside of desk with boarded base and two original shelves for storage of quills or candles.

The four recumbent lion finials typical of the South Netherlands.

Very rare collector’s item.
