Henry VIII oak carved press or aumbry cupboard. The front with carved tracery panels with the top right panel decorated with eagle of St.John. The two doors replaced.
Provenance: Formerly the property of the Marquess of Abergavenny. Collection of C.K. Binns and William H. Stokes, Cold Overton Hall, Rutland. Later purchased by Huntington Antiques, it was possibly at this point when the cupboard was restored.
Tudor cupboards are rare items to come across and very seldom have they survived well, most if not all have been restored, this example is a rare piece of high quality from the period and everything that survives on it is very good.
