Description

James I carved box. Front panels carved with elaborate and precisely executed paired s-scrolls closely related to the panels of an overmantel recovered in Exeter (Royal Albert Museum).

Retains undisturbed surface consisting of one coat of thin, purple-red pigment. Lock lost, and lock mortise patched.
