Description

James I carved oak mural spindle cupboard. The boarded construction with a framed front, the two upper male figures playing musical instruments and a female dancing in the centre, beneath a trencher or glass case cupboard with spindle turned baluster columns with a central door.

Inventories frequently note a livery cupboard in the bedchamber, and it was no doubt customary for the individual to store his livery here overnight. Victor Chinnery, Oak Furniture, the British Tradition.
