More information

This elaborately polychromed oak and elm chest, with Dennis like botanical motifs and numerous other ornamental traits comparable to documented practices of the Dennis Shop in New England. Its similarity to a chest constructed by Thomas Dennis now in the Wadsworth Atheneum (this example with a modern replaced top) last in series of pictures here. The chest is in an old condition to with a modern replaced top, the back board with an early 18th century muntin added for strength, good dry old surface.
