Description

Late Elizabeth I oak carved livery cupboard, ornately decorated throughout, the base with large cup and cover designed supports, the upper cupboard section with central door with a gadrooned carved framed door with applied central mask flanking two outer panels with applied arcaded panels with applied masks. Dividing the front panels are four carved buttresses with leafy decoration and a square section of “de Vries” designed decorative ornament. The sides carved with typical Exeter area motifs and with ventilation holes. The upper frieze rails carved with Devon style double S-scrolls.
