More information

Important and rare late Gothic - early Renaissance Franco Flemish carved oak armoire, of the best quality, with 40 linenfold panels. The central pole carved with tracery and foliage surmounted with the figure of the Virgin and Child. Armoires like this were being made in England during the early part of the 16th century for the royal households, the linenfold panels on this armoire are very similar to a panelled room that came out of Dartford Priory which Henry VIII owned and gave to Anne of Cleves (last picture)
