Description

Massive French Gothic parchemin panel chest with eight panels to the front and each side with thee further panels,

This rare and mammoth sized 15th century chest can loosely be attributed to a small group of closely related chests at the Hotel – Dieu at Beaune, Burgundy. Within the 100 chests still at the hospices today about thirty – five from the same date show the same distinctive parchemin panels.

In an ancient condition, bottom boards replaced, some panels patch repaired. Original lock plate.
