Description

Monumental 15th century Gothic pine cross. 8ft 9 inches high, carved to both sides with tracery, the reverse with carved central boss.

Represented here by their characteristic attributes are the four evangelists surrounding the Lamb of God, as derived from the vision of John in the Book of Revelation (4:6–7): an angel (Matthew), a winged lion (Mark), a winged ox (Luke) this symbol removed, and an eagle (John).

Important rare collector’s piece.
