Description

Early 18th century oak, elm and fruitwood mural spindle livery wall cupboard. The single door with spindle turnings within a frame, the interior painted yellow.

Ventilated food cupboards have been variously identified as both livery cupboards and dole cupboards, but the precise interpretations of these terms are, in fact, not very clear. Victor Chinnery, Oak furniture the British Tradition.
