Description

A finely carved oak panel depicting the bust of a winged angel, framed within scrolling Renaissance cartouches. The angel’s features are delicately modelled, conveying both serenity and watchful presence, while the surrounding foliate ornament enhances the celestial theme.
Panels of this type were frequently produced in the Netherlands and Northern Germany during the late Renaissance, often forming part of larger ensembles such as choir stalls, ecclesiastical furnishings, or domestic cabinets where angelic figures symbolised protection and divine guardianship.

Provenance: Feudalmuseum Schloss Wernigerode Staatliches Museum
