Description

A fine Renaissance brass candlestick of sectional construction, with a turned baluster stem rising through a broad drip pan. The candlestick is set on a distinctive triangular base with scrolled tripod feet, a rare and sculptural form favoured in Northern Italian workshops during the late 16th century.

Such candlesticks were intended for both ecclesiastical and patrician domestic interiors, reflecting the period’s architectural taste in metalware design.
