Description

Charles I oak chest with lower drawer with inlaid bone and mother of pearl panels within plain arcades with applied decoration of a very pure design.

The effect is emphatically architectural and first appeared in England in the 1640’s in the form of a series of chests with elaborate inlay of bone and mother of pearl. Victor Chinnery, Oak Furniture the British Tradition.
