Description

Charles II inlaid enclosed chest of drawers, the lower section with two doors, enclosing three drawers, each door with applied mouldings and a central boss with mother of pearl and bone inlay and applied split tunings. the upper section with a large bonnet draw and a slim glove drawer both with applied mouldings and inlaid with mother of pearl and bone, with the initials WH and dated 1651.

The English Civil Wars ended on September 3, 1651, with Oliver Cromwell’s victory at Worcester and the subsequent flight of Charles II to France.
