Charles II joined oak chest, ornately carved with three arcaded panels with floral and leafy decoration within the arcades, being flanked by figured terms praying and holding books. The frieze rail carved with scrolled serpents.

The restoration of Charles I's son, Charles II, to the throne in 1660 ushered in a period of great opulence in English art, architecture and design.
