Description

Charles II joined oak and elm tripod pedestal table, The tripod base with applied bun feet joined to a central turned baluster stem, the birdcage upper joined section with bobbin turned posts and cut out decorated arcades. Elm top.

The increasing popularity of this type of table at the end of the 17th century and through the 18th century, no doubt reflects the mounting consumption of tea and other hot beverages such as coffee and chocolate. Victor Chinnery Oak Furniture the British Tradition.
