Description

Elizabeth I elm kitchen table, a huge single plank elm top nailed to the original base with stop chamfered legs joined to thick lower stretcher rails and simple moulded frieze rails. The top has warped due to the table being made with wet timbers and nailed to the upper rails causing the rails to warp at the same time. A very rare example with an amazing dry surface. Old repairs.

Provenance: Private collection of Robert and Rachel Byles
