Description

This early armchair is pictured in Percy Macquoid’s book (The age of Oak) fig: 75 once the property of Sir George Donaldson,a great collector and dealer. Also a full page picture in the Regional Furniture Society 1988, fig:9. This chair is most probably Cornish, similar fixed woodwork in North Cornish churches show similar details. There is a very similar chair in the collection of Cotehele house with the same top rail, this too in Cornwall.
