James I joined oak great chair. The Royal coat of arms crest depicting the Lion and Unicorn supporting the English rose with a crown above. The carved back panel with a rising floral rose and thistle plant with birds and insects flanking a fleurs de lys and a flaming sun with a face carved within. The reverse of the back panel is carved with a detailed lozenge design with sun type roundel and above the cresting rail is carved with lunettes. This is a very rare feature to have a chair carved on both sides and also the arms, seat rails, stretcher rails and seat carved too. Few small restorations, one upper turned column cracked and repaired, splices to one hand rail and back stile, rear back stretcher rail cracked and now fixed with iron plate. moulding around seat 19th century.
