Description

Large pierced and carved relief Royal coat of arms, with the Lion and Unicorn holding a quartered shield, depicting the three passant lions of England, the harp of Ireland and rampant lion of Scotland.

The motto “Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense” Evil be to he who evil thinks

“Dieu et mon Droit” God and my Right

Carved in relief are the Lion and Unicorn supporting the heraldic shield with both the English rose and Scottish thistle below, above with the helmet crowned with a lion standing proud. Carved in pine with original gilt and polychrome under a 19th century varnish.

In an old condition, Unicorn missing horn and some sections loose, but completely original.
