Description

James I oak carved and inlaid chest, the three applied arcaded panels with guilloche designs with interlaced geometric holly and bog inlaid decoration within and the initials R E A , the stiles inlaid with nulled decoration with the frieze rail carved with interlaced scrolled designs. The top inlaid in a geometric pattern with the date 1617 in the centre.

A very fine James I chest, made by an Elizabethan artisan continuing the early traditions.
