Description

Late Gothic oak iron bound chest, the front sides and top covered with ornate iron strap work terminating with fleur de lis decoration.

See Heinrich Kreisel, Die Kunst des Deutschen Mobels, Munich, 1968, plate 45, for a virtually identical chest in the Kurpfalzisches Museum, Heidelberg with identical trefoil straps, Also see pl. 42, for a similar chest in the Kunstgewerbemuseum, Cologne.
