Description

Each with fluted sides and scalloped rim, painted in varying tones of cobalt blue with architectural and landscape scenes depicting turreted buildings among trees, enclosed by a border of stylised floral panels and foliage scrolls. The undersides left plain with pale buff bodies and typical ring foot.

These dishes belong to the late 17th-century phase of Nevers faïence, when decorators adopted an increasingly painterly approach to rural and architectural landscapes, often derived from engraved French pastoral views or Northern European prints. The soft blue palette and radial border reserves show kinship with pieces from Nevers and Rouen workshops such as the Custode family and Edme Poterat, circa 1670–1700.
