Description
A finely cast Renaissance bronze cauldron of compact form, standing on three splayed feet and fitted with angular handles. The body is subtly waisted and rises to a thickened rim with cast moulding. To one side appears the incised or cast letter “A”, likely denoting an early owner, workshop batch, or mould identifier.
Despite an old repair and loss to one foot, the vessel retains excellent balance and integrity, with a warm, original patina. Such cauldrons were indispensable in both domestic and ecclesiastical settings — used for heating, cooking, or even ritual preparations — and their robust forms often outlived the households they served.
