Description

17th century Scottish ash and pine armchair of rare form. The arms and front stretcher rail turned the same as the front legs. The back panels with simple mouldings.

Tobias Jellinek refers to in his book Early British chairs and seats 1500 to 1700, plate 53, page 72, to a Scottish armchair in the Burrell collection in Scotland with the same turned stretchers and armrests as being the only known chair he has ever seen with this design.
