Late 15th century Gothic carved oak cupboard. The narrow cupboard with linenfold doors to the lower section and two upper doors with winged angels within roundels with wrought iron hinges and lock plates, the top open section with linenfold back boards. The lower cupboard contains a series of gothic carved drawers. Provenance: Major Lambert, Audenarde, Belgium 1926. Purchased by William Permian for William Randolph Hearst in 1926 at the cost of $1445.97 which in today's money is $21,041.21. The cupboard was later sold in 1944 by Gimbel Bros for $450 to a Mr M Smith, Miami, Florida. It was later sold again by Hammer Galleries to Mr Haggstrom of Key Biscayne, Florida.
