Description
Thrown with rounded sides on a short footring, the exterior painted in cobalt with a bold bouquet of tulip, peony and ancillary leaves and berries, scattered sprigs between; the interior with a single sprig below a plain rim line. Tin-glazed white ground with the typical warm tonality and slight pinholing; the cobalt ranges from deep inky blue to paler washes, characteristic of late-seventeenth-century English delft painting.
Condition: Typical 17th-century fritting and small chips to the rim; minor glaze wear; foot and body otherwise sound and original.
